Serving Ontario Small Claims Court documents in Gatineau
We serve documents issued by the Ontario Small Claims Court on people at addresses in Gatineau, Quebec: a Plaintiff’s Claim (Form 7A) or a Defendant’s Claim (Form 10A), within 100 km by road of the Ottawa Courthouse. A Notice of Examination (Form 20H) is served at Ontario addresses only.
Ontario court documents only
In Gatineau we serve only documents issued by the Ontario Small Claims Court. We do not serve documents of Quebec courts or tribunals, including the Small Claims Division of the Court of Québec. We are not bailiffs (in Quebec, huissiers de justice), we have no office or place of business in Quebec: we go to an address in Gatineau only to serve an Ontario document.
Price
The same zones as in Ottawa, by driving distance from the Ottawa Courthouse (161 Elgin Street), plus $50.00 for any address in Quebec, before tax. Enter the address on the home page to see your price.
What is included
The same as for an Ottawa address: up to 3 attempts, the sworn Affidavit of Service (Form 8A) or of Attempted Service, printing and tracked return. See the Plaintiff’s Claim and Defendant’s Claim pages.
Your court file
Whether and how an Ontario document may be served in Quebec is a question for your court file. We do not give legal advice: confirm it with the court or an Ontario lawyer or paralegal.
